Free sewing skills courses for adults

Courses are starting in April 2024.

We're partnering with Bedfordshire and Luton Recovery College

Skills courses are running in Dunstable, Leighton Buzzard and Ampthill.

We're running skills sessions in partnership with Bedfordshire and Luton Recovery College.


The Recovery College is part of the Bedfordshire Mental Health Academy.


Alongside the education workshops delivered by the Recovery College, you can join our funded skills workshops at their venues.

Free course: Sewing Skills for Beginners

Sewing can save you money and prolong the life of your beloved clothing items!


If you have a few beloved clothing items you wish you knew how to repair, this course will teach you the basic sewing techniques to mend them. 


Practice the running stitch, back stitch and ladder stitch, as well as learning how to stitch up small holes, sew on patches and buttons, and problem solve when it might go wrong. 


No sewing machine is needed – a trusty needle and thread are provided to get you started. This course is for beginners with no sewing experience.


This course if free for adults aged 19 years and over in Central Bedfordshire and Bedford Borough.
