Crypto-currency investments

Act with caution if an investment opportunity seems too good to be true

image

The Trading Standards team are warning residents of crypto-currency investment opportunities that seem too good to be true.

We’ve seen an increasing number of reports where residents have responded to adverts on social media, or emails and telephone calls they have received relating to cryptocurrency investments, only to find themselves losing their money.

These types of scams promise high returns on investments. Scammers will distort investment returns to try and make it seem like an opportunity not to be missed.

They will also continue to encourage you into investing more and more of your money. It’s only when you try to access your ‘promised returns’, that you find the money has been lost and you have been scammed!

Please help protect others from falling victim to these types of scams by telling your family and friends about this alert.
