Be a marvellous maker at the library

Keep the kids busy at the library this Summer with loads of free drop in activities and crafts. Look out for Lego sessions, hunts around the library, easy quilling, paper weaving and hedgehog book folding.  

Put a joke in our jar for Tell-a-Joke day (16 August) and you could win a prize! Complete the Summer Reading challenge and glam-up you medal with our pens and gems.  Pick up a full list of all the activities we have at the Library.

Tuesday 6 August 3pm: Laura’s Story Laboratory

Join local author Laura Noakes for a fun workshop developing story ideas and building stories. Suitable for ages 5+

Tickets £3 – limited places so booking essential


Little Artists at the Library

Encourage your little ones to have fun with art this Summer.  We will introduce them to a range of different art techniques, provide all the materials for them to have a go and sort out all the mess!  There will be two sessions each day with a small group at each session - so please book to avoid disppaointment.


Friday 9 August 10am & 11.15am:  Sound Creatures

Can you draw what you hear? Listen to weird and wonderful sounds and music whilst you draw extraordinary creatures. 

Suitable for ages 4+ .Tickets £3 (£1 for siblings) 


Wednesday 14 August 2.15pm & 3.30pm: Elmer Printing Workshop

Elmer is the inspiration for this colourful printing session for little artists, where we will play with Mono- printing techniques. 

Suitable for ages 5+. Tickets £3 

Please wear old clothing that is suitable for messy play.


Tuesday 20 August 10am & 11.15am: Wax-Resist Painting

Crayons become the Heroes in this session for little artists. Learn how to create beautiful paintings using a combination of wax and watercolour painting. All materials provided. Suitable for ages 5+.  Tickets £3 

Please wear old clothing that is suitable for messy play.


Friday 16 August 4.15pm: Teddy Bear Sleepover

Register your bear at 4.15pm for bedtime stories at 4.30pm.  Your bear will sleepover in the library and you can pick them up (and find out what they have been up to) on Saturday 17 August. The Library is open 9am to 4pm on Saturdays

Potton Library at Party on Potton

We will be joining in the fun at the park for Party on Potton

Saturday 24 August from 1pm

Drop in and say hello at the library stand and maybe pick up some goodies (please note the library will close at 1pm)

Sunday 25 August from 2.30pm

We will be back at Party on Potton with fun science from Sublime Science!


Summer Reading Challenge


Have you signed up for the Summer Reading Challenge? It is a FREE holiday activity for children and you can sign up in the library at any time during the Summer holidays. It's all about reading for fun, aiming to improve children's reading skills and confidence. Children need to be a member of the library to join the challenge and read six books to complete the challenge.  On completion of the challenge they will be awarded a Marvellous Makers certificate and medal and will be entered into a lucky dip to win a £70 voucher to The Works, to buy arts, crafts and books.
