Caerphilly Town Centre launches free public Wi-Fi

image

Caerphilly Town Centre has become the last town to benefit from free public access Wi-Fi. WiFi in Caerphilly is part of a wider provision that has already been rolled out in Bargoed, Blackwood, Newbridge, Rhymney, Risca and Ystrad Mynach. The initiative aims to improve the experience for visitors of the high street by helping people to access online stores and to engage with local businesses online.

The expansion of the free public Wi-Fi position has already been a success in the six other town centres across the county borough with the provision contributing towards the Council’s ongoing support to regenerate our town centres.

The initiative forms a key part of the choose local campaign that aims to encourage residents to #ChooseLocal and explore each of our key town centres to fulfil visitors shopping and everyday needs. Residents can connect devices in a vast area in and around the town centre.

CCR Energy announces free collaborative opportunity to repurpose PFA for the circular economy

image

CCR Energy Limited (CCRE) has today announced a unique  - and free of charge - collaborative opportunity, for organisations with the expertise to help repurpose the highly valuable 18 million tonnes of Pulverised-fuel Ash (PFA) stored at the decommissioned Aberthaw Power Station on the South Wales coast.

An initial excavation of 20 Tonnes of PFA material commenced on Monday 12th February - offering an immediate opportunity for organisations to partner with CCR Energy in testing the characterisation, properties and consistency of a highly versatile material that has multiple usages and immense potential for recycling and reuse in the circular economy.

This first ‘characterization’ stage of exploratory works will give a deeper understanding of the opportunities that could be fulfilled by the PFA at Aberthaw - with the material collected being made available free of charge to market players who can evidence the know-how and commitment to test the material and share the results of those tests.

This pioneering project has secured Welsh Government SFIS Level 1 funding and depending on the test results, initial collaborations could evolve into formal partnerships or joint ventures.

PFA samples are being made available on a first-come-first-serve basis - and interested parties should contact enquiries@ccrenergy.com for further formation.
