D.H. Lawrence Birthplace Museum comes to Hands on Heritage this Saturday

The D.H. Lawrence Birthplace Museum will be taking part in the fantastic Hands on Heritage Event at Inspire Mansfield Central Library.

Come and join them at their pop up museum on Saturday 18 May alongside other museums and heritage groups from across the UK.

16 community projects boosted with Council funding

Community projects across Broxtowe Borough will benefit from a funding boost, thanks to Broxtowe Borough Council’s UK Shared Prosperity Funding (UKSPF) from the UK Government.

16 projects have been granted funding through the scheme, including an expanded programme of Nottingham Forest Community Trust sessions at Eastwood Town FC, which has received £32,017 funding to continue their weekly children’s Kicks sessions and introduce new adult sessions.

Community garden project flourishes thanks to Council funding

A community garden project in Kimberley has grown from strength to strength over the last year thanks to a £4,000 grant from Broxtowe Borough Council’s UK Shared Prosperity Funding.

Kimberley Community Garden Project have used the funding to improve the site, at Swingate Allotments, including building a pond, erecting fencing and purchasing cooking equipment to make the space more enjoyable and secure.

A community shop has thrived thanks to a £5,000 grant from Broxtowe Borough Council’s UK Shared Prosperity Funding.

The Plane Tree Independent CIC in Beeston is a community shop which is designed to support those with additional needs to gain retail training and experience.

Stapleford residents invited to Towns Fund drop-in event

The team behind Stapleford’s biggest ever regeneration project is inviting local people to its community drop-in event on Thursday 23 May 2024 to find out how it’s progressing and what’s in store for the future.

Residents are invited to drop in to the event at any time between 4.30pm and 6pm at the Carnegie Civic and Community Centre, Warren Avenue, Stapleford, NG9 8EY to meet to meet the team and find out more.

Infamous rebellion documented in new exhibition at D.H. Lawrence Birthplace Museum

A new exhibition at Eastwood’s D.H. Lawrence Birthplace Museum will explore the hidden history of England’s last armed rebellion, the Pentrich Revolution.

The Pentrich Revolution was an armed uprising in 1817 that began around the village of Pentrich in Derbyshire, with three hundred men who wanted to stand up to what they believed was a repressive government and demanding political rights and an end to enforced poverty. Unbeknown to them, the uprising had actually been encouraged by government agents.

Eastwood’s best kept secret: the Museum gift shop

Down the cobbles of Victoria Street in Eastwood is the D.H. Lawrence Birthplace Museum. Nestled inside is its fantastic gift shop which offers a hidden gem for all your gifting needs.

As well as the selection of D.H. Lawrence and literature themed items that you would expect to see, the shop stocks a wide range of gifts, jewellery, homewares and children’s toys that change throughout the seasons, making it the perfect place to find a gift for a loved one…or a little something for yourself.

Open Thursday to Saturday, 10am until 4pm, you can enjoy a unique shopping experience, picking a perfect gift for a loved one and take a tour of the museums historic rooms, for a small charge. There’s also a gallery space where you can take in a range of exhibitions on social history and community.

What’s more, by supporting the museum gift shop, you’re supporting the Museum, an important tool in preserving Broxtowe's heritage.
