Don't miss the Friday18 finale today
We've had some amazing local talent at Friday18 over the past 7 weeks with the 8th and final week taking place today. To round-off the summer sessions, we have Dan Bates and Jimi Strange in a 2 hour finale today at 6pm.
Dan is renowned for his acoustic arrangements of forgotten classics. Jimi's music has been described as melodic and poetic alt rock with a smidgen of folk-pop and a splattering of big fat blues.
Join us in The Square, Beeston, for 2 hours of free live music. Enjoy performances from these local artists and soak up the summer atmosphere.
See Stapleford on Sea this Saturday!
Stapleford on Sea's summer event arrives tomorrow! The event will be officially opened by the Mayor of Broxtowe and the Mayor of Stapleford will be judging fancy dress costumes at 1pm.
You'll be able to find:
- Steel Band
- Punch and Judy Show
- Sand Pits
- Treasure Hunts
- Street Food
- Crochet Displays
- Ice Creams
- Stapleford Fire Station
- And lots more!
The event hopes to raise awareness about the rising sea levels and the threats to our marine environment.
Final Summer Play Day next week!
Join us for the final Play Day for the year on Monday 12 August at Broadgate Park in Beeston.
The Beeston Play Day is sure to entertain the family with activities like inflatables, fair rides, arts and crafts, puppet shows, a 'pop-up' museum from the D.H. Lawrence Birthplace Museum, our Waste and Recycling stall and more!
If you can, please walk, cycle or use public transport to get to the event.
Yellow Heat Health Alert issued
Stay safe this weekend and where possible please keep an eye on elderly neighbours and those that are more vulnerable to extreme temperatures.
The NHS advice for how to cope in hot weather suggests you should:
- Keep out of the heat if you can. If you have to go outside, stay in the shade especially between 11am and 3pm, wear sunscreen, a hat and light clothes, and avoid exercise or activity that makes you hotter
- Cool yourself down. Have cold food and drinks, avoid alcohol, caffeine and hot drinks, and have a cool shower or put cool water on your skin or clothes
- Keep your living space cool. Close windows during the day and open them at night when the temperature outside has gone down. Electric fans can help if the temperature is below 35 degrees. Check the temperature of rooms, especially where people at higher risk live and sleep

You said, We did
We hear you - feeling safe in your community is important.
That’s why we have been carrying out the Broxtowe knife crime action plan which involves a range of proposals to address knife crime that were approved at our community safety committee in January 2022.
This includes partnership working with local groups such as Chayah and knife amnesties in partnership with voluntary sector organisations in Eastwood and Stapleford, secondary schools in Broxtowe and many multi-agency partnership groups.
Have your say on local Parks and Open Spaces
Do you spend time in Stapleford’s green spaces? We’d like to hear your thoughts on:
• Central Avenue Recreation Ground
• Hemlockstone Open Space
• Archers Field Recreation Ground
Please send in your ideas through our Parks and Open Spaces survey so our team can plan improvements with your feedback in mind.
Take the survey before 30 August 2024.
