Tackling climate change with your help
You said: We should have more informal grass areas to reduce the cost of grass cutting and introduce more wildlife friendly and meadow planting schemes.
We did:
- We take a ‘low mow’ approach every May to allow wildflowers to set seed and insects to complete their lifecycle.
- We’ve introduced 8 bee friendly areas.
- We have 57 wildflower beds and over 12 hectares of flower rich grassland across the Borough. That’s as much as 30 football pitches!
- We are working to create a ‘Wilder Crow Hill’ in Bramcote Hills Park. This project aims to return the area to a more natural state with native trees, thriving wild flora and a healthy woodland to benefit biodiversity as well as capture and store carbon.
