Love Parks Week Special
Next week is Love Parks Week!
Love Parks Week is a celebration of our local parks which will run from 26 July to 4 August.
Organised by Keep Britain Tidy, this week encourages us to appreciate our green spaces and think about what they mean to us and our communities.
Read on to find out how you can get involved this year.
How much do you love green spaces across Broxtowe?
Let us know in our Parks and Open Spaces consultation so you can help to guide improvements to green spaces across the Borough.
Last year, you said: Queen Elizabeth Park in Stapleford could use more toddler equipment.
We did: We took on your feedback and completed improvements at this site, including the addition of a range of exciting new toddler play equipment.
The survey only takes a few minutes and asks you to tell the Council how you feel about selected local parks and open spaces by providing ratings on signage, cleanliness, facilities and the approach to nature and wildlife.
Don’t miss this chance to share your ideas and shape the improvements we implement before the survey closes on 30 August 2024.

Visit Broxtowe's Green Flag award winning sites
We're proud of our outstanding parks which have continued to receive the prestigious Green Flag Award.
Managed by Keep Britain Tidy under licence from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, the Green Flag Awards are the international mark of quality for parks and open spaces. A Green Flag is a sign that the space boasts very high standards, is well maintained and has good facilities.
Bramcote Hills Park in particular received positive comments about how the park is clearly well loved by the local community with something for everyone to enjoy. The space was also described as a testament to what can be achieved by local authorities in current times.
Other spaces in the Borough that received a Green Flag award include:
- Colliers Wood
- Alexandrina Plantation Nature Reserve
- Brinsley Headstocks
- Bramcote Old Church Tower
Where's Watson?
Watson's tail is wagging because he's enjoying a lovely walk in a local Broxtowe park.
He's picked this space because it has a play area and two big fields to run around in! The fields are used for football and cricket so there's plenty of space for him to play in.
This park also has a pavilion and a wildlife area with plenty of dragonflies tucked at the back of the space with plenty of interesting plants for Watson to investigate.
Can you figure out which park he's visiting? Do you think you have been there too? Make sure to come back and get the answer in next month's Parks and Open Spaces bulletin.
If you spend time in your local parks, make sure to log your visits on Green Rewards on desktop or through the app. You could be in with a chance to win a £20 gift voucher of your choice in this month's draw!
