A new Choice Based Lettings scheme will be launched soon, making it easier for you to apply for housing and access your application for updates and information about your housing needs.

Broxtowe Homechoice will replace our existing Broxtowe Homesearch system in June.

The new customer portal will give you 24/7 access to your application, as well a chat function which allows you to communicate with us quickly and easily.

If you currently have a housing register application with us, we’ll be sharing more information soon as you will need to renew your application on the new system.

Are You Looking to Sell Your Ex-Council Home?

image

You can sell your ex-Council property without the estate agent fees!

We are looking to buy ex-Council leasehold flats or houses at full market value. We will, at no cost to you, carry out a survey of your home to see if it can be added back to our existing stock. Once back in Council ownership, the properties are used to provide housing for those on the Council’s housing list.

For further information, please contact our Homeownership team on 0115 917 3935 or email acquisitions@broxtowe.gov.uk

Getting Crafty at Independent Living

image

Tenants were busy at schemes across the borough this Easter. Getting creative by making cute Easter bunnies and Easter cards, with some even decorating their hats.

The Activities Coordinators also organised special events like a sing along, musical performance and a mad hatters tea party.

Mental Health Awareness Week

image

It's Mental Health Awareness Week  from 13 to 19 May 2024, and this year's theme is "Movement: Moving more for our mental health".

Being active is important for our mental health. But so many of us struggle to get enough exercise. We know there are many different reasons for this, so this Mental Health Awareness Week we want to help people to find moments for movement in their daily routines.

image

Going for a walk in your neighbourhood, putting on your favourite music and dancing around the living room, chair exercises when you’re watching television – it all counts! We encourage tenants and leaseholders to get active with the 'On the Move' engagement activities such as walkabouts of their area.

In the Independent Living Schemes, tenants can participate in fitness sessions to help with both body and mind.

The J9 Domestic Abuse Initiative

image

What is J9?

The J9 Domestic Abuse Initiative aims to raise awareness of domestic abuse and assist survivors to access support safely by training professionals and members of the community to recognise domestic abuse and respond to survivors.

Once J9 trained, the J9 logo is displayed. This alerts survivors  that they can obtain information which will help them access a safe place where they can seek information and use a telephone to contact local support services or the police.

So many survivors say that they never got the chance to tell someone because it wasn't safe. It's not always easy to know who to contact, where to go and what your options are. Coercive control is a factor in many abusive relationships and perpetrators of abuse will actively shut down opportunities for survivors to access support. J9 opens those doors to support and creates a network of safe places for survivors to speak out and get help.

All job centres in Nottinghamshire are J9 safe spaces, along with some local councils, GP surgeries, shops, and offices. All safe spaces will display the J9 logo.

Domestic Abuse Awareness and J9 training is free to organisations in Nottinghamshire, the training takes 1 hour to complete, for more information, please do not hesitate to contact Nicola (Nicola.Brindley@dwp.gov.uk)
