Whatever the weather, keep everyone entertained over the summer holidays.

Across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole there are festivals, fun days, fireworks, free activity programmes in libraries, and much more!

🎆 Don’t miss this years’ FREE summer fireworks across Bournemouth and Poole:

📍 Bournemouth: Catch a dazzling display on Bournemouth Beach every Friday at 10pm from 26 July until 23 August, presented by Coastal BID. Plus, there’s an extra two displays on 30 and 31 August respectively as part of the Bournemouth Air Festival!

📍 Poole: If Poole is your place, catch the fireworks on the Quay every Thursday at 10pm from 8 August until 29 August. Plus, there’s an additional two dates on 25 July and 1 August, funded by Poole Quay Events.

🏖️ LV=KidZone - keeping kids safe on the beach

The LV=KidZone beach safety scheme helps protect and reunite lost children and vulnerable adults.

From 24 July until 1 September the beaches of Bournemouth, Boscombe, Alum and Durley Chine will be staffed by LV=KidZone operatives distributing wristbands directly to families.

🤾‍♀️ Applications open for the BCP Council Youth Fund

The BCP Council Youth Fund is a fund for young people managed by a panel of young people.

A pot of £25,000 is available to local charities, business, statutory services and voluntary organisations.

Groups can apply for funding to support initiatives that directly impact young people in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, offering them exciting opportunities and new experiences.

Discover how Bournemouth Cubs Wheelchair Rugby team benefits from the funding they received from the BCP Youth Fund project.

Applications close on Monday 5 August at 10am.

🏠 Work starts on affordable new homes in Poole

Work has started on building 110 sustainable and affordable homes in Hillbourne, Poole.

BCP Council has worked with its partner Wates Residential Construction Ltd to provide 40 two-bedroom homes, 41 three-bedroom homes and an independent living apartment building with 29 one-bedroom flats.

It aims to bring new investment and generate millions in social value for the local community. The homes will be a combination of social rent and shared ownership and will be built around the new Hillbourne Junior School.

Designed with modern living in mind, the Hillbourne housing development will deliver high-quality, low carbon and energy-efficient homes.

🚴‍♂️Bourne Academy students trial virtual reality (VR) cycling training

A group of year seven students at The Bourne Academy School, Bournemouth are the first in the country to experience an exciting new virtual cycling training session.

The ‘Group-Based VR Immersive Cycle Training Project’ uses tablets to embed the skills needed for learning to cycle on the road. The training is designed to help children become more confident and competent cyclists.

Other BCP Council schools interested in signing up for Bikeability immersive cycle training sessions should email bikeability@bcpcouncil.gov.uk.
