🏖️🌊Beaches retain Blue Flag status

Beaches across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole have retained their Blue Flag status this summer after the tourism and hospitality sector partnered with BCP Council.  

Of the 72 UK locations to receive an award, 12 were granted to beaches in the BCP area, meaning one in six Blue Flag beaches are located in our region.

Local children will be having splashing fun in the sun, as three key paddling pools are set to reopen later this month.

Preparations to reopen Redhill paddling pool, The Quomps Splashpark in Christchurch and Hamworthy Park paddling pool this summer are all underway.

🏨 Accommodation Business Improvement District (ABID) results

The proposal to establish an Accommodation Business Improvement District (ABID) for Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole is approved.

A majority of the Business ratepayers in the proposed ABID area who voted, voted in favour of the proposal.

Councillor Vikki Slade, leader of BCP Council, said:

“We congratulate the Accommodation BID on being the first for a coastal destination.

“We are excited at the prospect of working alongside them to deliver a more productive and resilient visitor economy and destination management.”

🛹 Free skateboard workshop for #LivesBeforeKnives

Knife crime can impact anyone, so it is everyone's responsibility to help put a stop to it.

🛹 Come and join King Ramps for a free skateboard workshop for young people at the Henry Brown Centre in Bournemouth (BH11 8DU) between 12 to 2pm this Saturday 18 May.

It's part of the Safer BCP's Knife Crime Awareness campaign to educate young people about the dangers of knife crime and the implications of carrying a knife.

Work on the final phase of walking, wheeling and cycling improvements in the Glenferness Avenue area in Bournemouth, around Leven Avenue, Benellen Avenue, Branksome Wood Road, Queen’s Road and Prince of Wales Road into the Upper Gardens starts on 20 May.

There's a community litter pick at Boscombe Chine Gardens, an evening with bats, butterfly monitoring, pond dipping, mini beast hunts and more!
