On Wednesday 15 May, the BCP Council elective home education team held a drop-in event at Poole Library in the Dolphin Centre for families educating children at home and anyone wishing to find out more about elective home education.

The event gave families a chance to meet the team, share and swap resources for learning at home, while the children got to create an impressive giraffe (pictured with the elective home education team above).

Our next drop-in event will be held on Thursday 26 September in Bournemouth Library from 9.30am to 11.30am. Find out more in the link below.

Carers Week 2024 - putting carers on the map!
image
BCP Council’s carer support team is celebrating Carers Week with a range of activities and support for unpaid carers and the people they look after in our local community.

Carers Week (10 to 16 June) aims to raise awareness of carers in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole. The campaign will be putting carers on the map by highlighting the many and varied challenges they face and the important contribution they make to supporting those who rely on their help.

A carer can be someone of any age providing unpaid support to family or friends who could not manage without their help. Carers are typically family members, friends or neighbours who find themselves offering support which may build gradually over time or which happens suddenly after an unexpected illness.

A planned programme of events and activities across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole will be available for carers, raising awareness of the support available locally. These events include afternoon teas, information drop-in events and Bournemouth Symphonic Orchestra concert for carers. Find out more below.
