⛱️ Beach Hut waiting lists in Bournemouth to reopen
Did you know Bournemouth was the first place in the UK to have purpose-built beach huts? Their position on our award-winning seafront has meant waiting lists have been historically oversubscribed.
For the first time in seven years the waiting lists for Bournemouth Beach Huts will reopen in July for residents of Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.
Information relating to the joining process, eligibility criteria, and terms and conditions is now live.

🏠 Celebrating our 'Shared Lives' carers!
BCP Council 'Shared Lives' carers look after vulnerable adults, living with them in a supportive home setting. Next week marks the start of the Shared Lives campaign from 24 to 28 June, an opportunity to celebrate our carers and highlight the amazing work they do.
Shared Lives carers help with daily tasks from personal care and accessing health services, to making decisions and learning new skills, enabling individuals to live a full life in the community.
Emma Jones is a Shared Lives carer. She lives in Bournemouth and has been looking after Jake full-time for five years. She told us:
"Shared Lives is a bit like fostering, but for vulnerable adults. I’ve been a Shared Lives carer for seven years, and my experience has been extremely positive.
“I gave respite to other families who needed a break which was a pleasure for me, and I was then matched with Jake five years ago, who lives with me full-time. We are a very good match, and he has progressed so much in the last five years, and that’s down to the Shared Lives scheme.”
Shared Lives placements can be long-term, short-term, respite or day support – the level of care required depends on the needs of the individual. Carers are carefully matched with the adult to ensure the placement best suits everyone involved, and they receive full training, ongoing support and payment.

Be tick-aware when enjoying our parks and countryside
Ticks can occur at any time of year, but tick activity is at its peak during the spring and summer months. Ticks are small arachnids that can carry diseases such as Lyme disease and can be found in woodlands, grasslands, and moorlands. Ticks can also be found in some urban parks and gardens.
