Introduction to prehistoric textiles
Prehistoric textiles
*1 August*
*Creswell Crags*
Discover the ancient use of textiles through an exploration of techniques and discussion with experimental archaeologist, Sally Pointer.
Start by exploring the evidence for prehistoric textiles and discussing the challenges of reconstructing techniques where so much of the original material has not survived. Poulter Country Park
Top of the World, Poulter Country Park
Poulter Country Park offers walkers, cyclists and horse riders a wonderful variety of paths and scenery to explore.
Follow one of two waymarked trails around the park and look out for 'Art Along the Way'. The redevelopment of the Archaeological Way has inspired some fantastic community arts projects, many of which now form a sculpture trail on the park.
Wander up to the viewpoint where you can enjoy views across the surrounding countryside to Creswell, Langwith, and on a clear day over the Welbeck estate to Lincoln Cathedral. Here you’ll find 'Top of the World'; a piece by artist Ewan Allinson inspired by the area's Stone Age past.
Look for 'Commemoration', a piece commissioned by the Langwith-Whaley Thorns Heritage Association, to remember those lost in two separate tragic accidents in the first and second world wars.
