Council investing in its communities

We are continuing to invest in good quality housing after we agreed to demolish 49 old chalet type council bungalows due to their age and condition.
The properties on Briar Close in Shirebrook are deemed to be unsuitable as they have excessive stepped approaches, are chalet type buildings with no thermal efficiency, do not have private gardens and are approaching or have exceeded their lifespan.
The site is under consideration for redevelopment by us and as such the bungalows have been vacated in readiness for the demolition, with affected tenants being awarded an agreed home loss payment and rehoused.

Ben Nevis Challenge
Ben Nevis Challenge
A group of intrepid walkers are set for their third and final peak of the three main peaks in the UK as they get set to take on Ben Nevis.
The event has been organised by Ryan Woodward from Shirebrook who decided to raise money for three fantastic chosen charities after a close friend passed away.

met up with Ryan and two of his friends to find out a bit more about the challenge.
