What does organic mean?

Organic growing sustains the health of soil, ecosystems, animals and people. If you buy organic certified produce you know you are buying food which has been grown in a sustainable way.
Organic farmers do not use pesticides and instead aim to create a natural balance between plants and animals to prevent pests.

How to go organic
Organic certificate
One of the simplest ways to eat more organic food is to grow it yourself. Whether that be in your garden, home or allotment, homegrown food is free of pesticides and you are able to control the process from start to finish.
If you are buying organic then look out for the organic certificate mark. This means the Soil Association has assessed and granted the producer the status of organic producer. Organic food isn't just fruit and vegetables. You can purchase organic eggs, bread, milk, wine and chocolate.
