Clearing up fly tipping costs us, and you, the taxpayer, thousands of pounds every year.
From 1 April 2023 to 31 March 2024 we dealt with more than 1,200 incidents - that's three a day - of fly tipped waste, which includes tyres, asbestos and household waste dumped at the side of roads, in lay bys and along country lanes.
A typical fly tip clearance can cost anything up to £200, but extreme cases can cost upward of £1,000.
Our dedicated environmental enforcement team investigate all reports of fly tipping where evidence is available and will take enforcement action where possible.

How to get rid of your waste the right way
Bulky waste
We offer numerous ways to help you dispose of your waste correctly.
Bulky waste collections can help if you can't get items such as sofas, tables or white goods to the tips yourself.
If you have excess cardboard you can leave it as extra when your burgundy bin is collected.
There are household recycling sites for you to take excess waste to as well. If you hire someone to take your rubbish away, ensure they hold a valid waste carriers licence and you receive a waste carriers note. Otherwise, if your waste is fly tipped it is you who is fined.

If you see fly tipped waste anywhere in the district you can let us know by filling in our online reporting form.
We will need to know where the waste has been dumped and as much information as you can give us on the type of waste that has been dumped.
