The tapestries of Hardwick Hall
Hardiwck Hall gideon tapestry
Hardwick Hall is famous for having more glass than wall. But it is also renowned for its tapestries. And none more so than the 13 tapestries that tell the story of Gideon, one of the 12 judges to appear in the Old Testament Book of Judges.
Bess of Hardwick bought them in1592 to hang in the Long Gallery and the 24-year conservation project, which cost £1.7million is now at an end. We spoke to Eleanor Williams, Collections and House Manager at the Hall to find out how the project went.

The Derbyshire unemployed Workers Centre (DUWC) have launched a campaign to ensure that former mineworkers, their partners and widows across Derbyshire, who have reached state pension age, are in receipt of all of the benefits they are entitled to.
With funding from CISWO North Derbyshire Miner’s Welfare Trust, the focus is on Attendance Allowance as it is not means tested, something which tends to put people off claiming benefits. We spoke to Matt Hunt from DUWC about the help people can receive.
