AccessAble Portal
AccessAble gives detailed information so you can find out whether a place is accessible for you to use, before you visit. Their access guide provides you with accurate information about a venue, along with photographs. They have now launched a portal where you can request an audit of your business premises, by either a surveyor in-person or an online guided assessment, depending on the size and type of business. Find out more about AccessAble and their Accessibility Guide Portal [
].
To help your business through this process, funding is available thanks to the UK Shared Prosperity Funding allocated to Bassetlaw District Council to improve both pride in the district and people’s life chances in Bassetlaw. Through the High Street Support Programme, businesses can apply for up to £2,000 to request an audit of their premises, and receive a report to identify what adaptations or alterations are needed to ensure their property is accessible to all users. To access this grant, businesses must meet with a business support adviser in the first instance. Contact: economic.development@bassetlaw.gov.uk.
Following the audit, businesses may apply for a capital grant through the Town Centre Shop Front Grant to help improve internal and external accessibility to their premises. This scheme will provide new and existing independent businesses the opportunity to apply for a grant of up to £20,000, with applicants contributing 20% match funding of the total project costs if you are a business, or 10% if you are a charity. Further details of this grant can be found on the council website [
].
Shopfront Grants
Worksop, Retford and Tuxford town centres are getting an equal share of £3million to smarten up its high streets and strengthen communities.
The funding will help upgrade shop facades, accessibility and start-up costs for new businesses as well as helping to reduce crime or improve community spaces.
The streetscape funding is part of £20million allocated to Bassetlaw as part of the Governments Levelling Up Partnership, which aims to improve where people live, create employment opportunities and boost community facilities.

Worksop Town Fund Survey
Share your views on the future of Worksop
Have your say on £20M projects in Worksop! Residents and businesses are being asked to share their views as part of a six-week consultation that will shape how £20million of Government Funding could be spent in Worksop. In October last year, the Government named Worksop as one of 55 towns that will receive an endowment-style fund of £20million, released over the next 10 years, which could provide long-term certainty to deliver projects and interventions based on local priorities.
