Vue Basildon is officially open
We are thrilled to announce the grand opening of Vue Cinema at East Square this week.
The Mayor of Basildon, Councillor Allan Davies cut the ribbon, alongside Owen Sparks, Basildon Council’s Strategic Director of Resources & Governance, Toby Bradon, Vue UK and Ireland General Manager and the Vue team!
Whether you're a fan of the latest blockbusters, gripping dramas, or fun family films, Vue Cinema has something for everyone.

On Friday 2 August, Vue is hosting a Family Fun Day. Come along to enjoy a range of family friendly activities:
* Exclusive Preview of Bluey: 10am - Watch a compilation of your favourite episodes from seasons one and two. You might even get a chance to meet Bluey in person!
* Mighty Mornings Screening: Enjoy the family blockbuster "IF" at 12.30pm
* Spiderman: Back on the big screen at 1pm
* McLaren Simulator Challenge: Test your racing skills on the big screen, brought to you by Coca Cola. Compete against a pro McLaren E-sport champion's lap time.
* Face painting, balloon modelling, a circus skills workshop and a community window colouring in event throughout the day
* Dino meet and greets at East Square - 11am, 12pm, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, 3.30pm
* Ranger and baby dino meet and greets at East Square - 11.30am, 12.30pm, 2.30pm
* Dino story time at East Square - 11.45am, 12.15pm, 1.30pm, 2.15pm, 3.45pm
* Ranger and baby dino meet and greets at Eastgate Shopping Centre - 10.30am, 12pm, 1.30pm
* Ranger ride on fun at Eastgate Shopping Centre - 11.15am, 12.45pm, 14.15pm

Do you have any excess general waste in black sacks or bulky waste items? Get your gloves on and bring them to one of the following locations on Saturday 27 July:
* *Billericay* - Little Burstead Car Park, CM12 9SY
* *Shotgate* - Bruce Grove (Russell Gardens end), SS11 8QH
* *Lee Chapel South* - The Knares service area rear of 58-92, SS16 5TF
* *Vange* - Gordon Road layby near Helpeston, SS14 1PR
* *Pitsea* - Chalvedon - Travers Way - Bottom of road near 109, SS13 3LX

If you are registered for an assisted collection for your waste and recycling, or have significant health and mobility issues, visit our website linked below to arrange a collection of bulky waste.
This service offer is to provide assistance to some of the borough's most vulnerable residents. If demand is high, it may take a few weeks to complete the collection.

Then Basildon Council's Summer of Sport Photo Competition is for you! This summer of sporting excellence inspires us to get active. Have you discovered a new sport or hobby? Are you celebrating the Olympics?

There are four great prizes up for grabs, kindly donated by our partners - *Everyone Active, Morgan Sindall Property Services, Vue Basildon and 4Site Implementation Ltd* - more information will be announced on prizes over on our social media channels.

New Community Hub in Eastgate Shopping Centre
The new Community Hub in Eastgate Shopping Centre provides an opportunity for the public to meet their local Essex Police officers and get support from a range of partners, including the NHS, Signpost, and more.
The hub is located opposite the food court in Eastgate, and will operate from Friday to Monday, 9am to 5pm, until the first weekend in September.
