80th anniversary D-Day celebrations
Join us as we commemorate those that served during the D-Day operation in 1944. On Thursday 6 June, we will be lighting beacons across the borough to mark the historic event.
Beacon lightings will take place at:
* Gloucester Park, Basildon - 8.45pm
* The Paddocks, Laindon - 8.45pm
* Wat Tyler Country Park, Pitsea - 8.45pm
* Queen Elizabeth II Field, Billericay - 9pm
* Wickford Memorial Park - parade at 8.45pm, followed by the lighting of the beacon at 9:15pm

Mental Health Awareness Week
Mental Health Awareness Week
‘Movement: Moving more for our mental health’ is the theme of Mental Health Awareness Week 2024.
One of the most important things we can do to help protect our mental health is regular movement. Movement is a great way to enhance our wellbeing. Even a short burst of 10 minutes’ brisk walking can boost our mood and increase our mental alertness and energy.
If you’d like to get moving more, this guide from the Mental Health Foundation will give you some ideas to get started as well as tips on how to get the best mental health benefits from the movement you’re doing.
