Special event for Summer of Sport photo competition winners
As part of the Summer of Sport celebrations, Basildon Council hosted a photo competition, sponsored by partners Everyone Active, Vue Basildon, 4Site Implementation Ltd and Morgan Sindall Property Services.
The competition invited people to showcase how they are celebrating the summer of sport. We received many fantastic entries demonstrating local sporting participation over the summer.

Congratulations to the four winners who were awarded their prizes at a special event on Thursday 22 August at Basildon Sporting Village:
* *1st Prize *- Martin. 6 months pass at Basildon Sporting Village sponsored by Everyone Active
* *2nd Prize *- Emily. Family tickets to Vue Sponsored by Vue Basildon
* *3rd Prize *- Paula. Bespoke sustainable made Habitat Hotel sponsored by 4Site Implementation Ltd

Bank Holiday waste collections
There will be no waste collections on Monday due to the bank holiday.
Collections next week will run a day later than usual.

This is your chance to shape the future of your waste and recycling services, so don't miss out on having your say.
Share your views online using the link below, or come along to one of the Waste Roadshows to learn more about the consultation with support to complete it in-person.
The next roadshow will take place *at Laindon Community Centre on Wednesday 28 August between 9am and 1pm.*

Support to take your next steps
Pathways Get Sorted event poster - Friday 13 September, 11am to 2pm, the Basildon Centre
Congratulations to everyone who has recently collected their GCSE and A-Level results!
We know it can be a stressful time, and you may be wondering what's next. Get Sorted is a special event that will host a wide range of employers and training providers to support those who may be unclear about their future.
The following are just a few of the providers and employers that will be on-hand for advice and guidance:
* ACL apprenticeships
* USP college and USP supported internships
* Essex Police
* Morgan Sindall Property Services
Career Advisers specialising in support for SEND young people will also be on-hand for advice and support.
*Councillor Jessica Power, Cabinet Member for Jobs, Skills and Local Economy said*, “No matter what those grades say, be proud of all the hard work you’ve put in. This is just the beginning of the journey, and there are so many exciting opportunities ahead.”
The event will take place on Friday 13 September from 11am to 2pm at the Basildon Centre.

The Find Your Active festival returns this Summer

Explore a variety of sports, family-friendly games, and activities for all ages and fitness levels!
Whether you're trying something new or taking part for fun, there’s something for everyone.
You can also enjoy free ice cream and smoothies!
