2024 Basildon Skills Show Stallholder booking now open
Basildon Skills Show Stallholder
We have exciting news; our *stallholder bookings* are now *open* for the 2024 Basildon Skills Show, on *Wednesday 2 October 2024*.
* This year the Skills Show is open exclusively to *schools 9am-2.15pm*
* From *3-6pm* the Skills Show is open to *all residents*
* Each stallholder will be given one table and two chairs and there is free parking
* *180 students* brought in by coach *every hour,* 9am-2.15pm, targeting year 11
* We request that stalls are *interactive.* This is your opportunity to showcase a piece of your equipment, an item your company creates or help the students to explore the range of roles you have to offer. If you are struggling for ideas, please come back to us and we can suggest some options
* Last year we had nearly 900 visitors in the afternoon session and we hope to see more this year with the schools involvement throughout the day.
The cost of a stall is £50 plus Eventbrite fee. This cost helps us to keep the Basildon Skills Show running year on year.

We are thrilled to introduce Basildon Business Boost - an exceptional opportunity for businesses in Basildon, Wickford, Laindon, Pitsea, and Billericay to access fully-funded, comprehensive business support and grants, available until 31 March 2025.
Basildon Business Boost is being delivered by business support specialists. The Consortium are delivering a comprehensive programme which offers an array of benefits designed to help your business grow. Here’s what you can look forward to:
* *Expert Business Coaching*: Gain insights and guidance from award-winning business coaches at The Consortium through peer group and 1:1 sessions.
* *Workshops and Webinars*: Participate in both web-based and in-person workshops tailored to address various aspects of business growth.
* *Specialist Support*: Access specialised advice, including debt management and support for women in business.
* *Business Grants*: After attending one of our workshops or receiving peer group or 1:1 support, you may apply for a £2,000 business grant for capital expenditure - to purchase new equipment that will contribute to business growth. These grants do not need to be repaid, although terms and conditions apply.

ACL Essex will be hosting 2 webinars on 10 September for those interested in a career in health and social care or those who currently work in the sector who would like to progress their careers.
Their Nightingale Care Bursary enables Health & Social Care providers to support their staff with free training and development opportunities.

The events are held in partnership with Metro Bank and take place on the second Monday of each month.
At the event, you'll have the chance to connect with like-minded professionals and potential collaborators, expand your business network and explore new opportunities, and gain insights from industry experts and thought leaders.

Is your business looking to recruit young talent? Exhibit at 'Get Sorted'
pathways event
For those young people who need to reconsider their options following their A-level and GCSE results or have nothing in place from September, Basildon Council’s employability hub, Pathways, is hosting our annual post-exam results event 'Get Sorted' in partnership with Essex Council.
We are looking for employers hiring for entry level roles suitable to young people just starting out in the world of work.
Although timed to follow-on from exam results days, Get Sorted is open to all young people aged from 16 to 25, to help those who got off on the wrong foot or discovered the path they set down is not for them.
Get Sorted is in the entrance foyer of the Basildon Centre on Friday 13 September, 11am-2pm. Please contact pathways@basildon.gov.uk for more information.
