The SEND Partnership is made up of the Education, Care and Health commissioners and providers who provide services for children and young people with SEND, as well as SENDAC, the statutory Parent/Carer forum.
The Westmorland and Furness and Cumberland SEND partnership are now the two new local area partnerships for Cumbria, replacing the Cumbria SEND Partnership, continuing its work, but with a focus on their local area.

We are delighted that we have heard that our application for a new Special Free School in Westmorland and Furness has been successful.
The DfE have confirmed that our application has been successful, and this will be one of 16 new Special Schools and will offer provision for children aged 4-19 with autism and speech, communication and language difficulties.
The design and exact location of the new school are still to be confirmed, but the aim is for it to be situated within the Eden area.
The council will now work with the government, partners and SENDAC parent and carer forum to deliver this new school. We will keep you posted with developments.
This is great news and will continue to improve our work around SEND sufficiency.

Asthma is a common medical condition, affecting over 300 million people worldwide, including 11.6% of children aged 6 and 7. In the UK, over 8 million people have an asthma diagnosis, with over 5 million people requiring regular asthma medication.
As the summer months approach, asthma can often be triggered by increased pollen counts, causing symptoms such as tight chests, wheezing and breathlessness.
World Asthma Day happens each year in May, check out the leaflet for some helpful information.
