TOP STORY: Showing support for our Armed Forces
The Armed Forces Day flag has been flying at the town halls [
] in Barrow, Kendal and Penrith throughout the week to show our support.
The week is a chance to show support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community; from currently serving personnel to service families, veterans and cadets, and culminates in Armed Forces Day on Saturday (29 June).
Westmorland and Furness Council demonstrated its commitment to the Armed Forces community by signing the National Armed Forces Covenant last year. The covenant ensures that those who serve or who have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, are treated fairly and are not disadvantaged in accessing public services by their military service.
*Westmorland and Furness Council also now has a website section dedicated to the armed forces with advice and support for veterans and their families [
]*.

How fantastic was Dave Day?
This super film by John Rennie really captures the amazing scenes in Barrow on 8 June and the joy and excitement of the motorcycle ride and events in the town centre.
Lots of people have asked about the possibility of some lasting Dave Day legacy for Barrow. We’ve listened to those calls and we’re currently having discussions with partners including Barrow BID, along with Dave Myers’ family and Si King, about ways to keep the Dave Day spirit going…we’ll hopefully be able to share more details soon!
John Rennie would like to thank everyone who sent footage and special thanks to those whose footage made the final edit: Steve Nicholson, Scott Thomson,
Ian Andrew Irwin, John Walker, Diane Cullen, John Phillips and Jarvis Yoghourt.
In the meantime, we hope you enjoy re-living Dave Day by watching the film [
