I started working in a Customer Service role within Adults Social Care in 2006. I then took an internal opportunity to become a Social Care Worker in 2007, which included completing assessments and reviews in an older adults social work team, before moving to working within a generic adults over 18 duty team and the long-term assessments team.
After I had gained confidence, knowledge, and experience within my roles as an Adults Social Care Worker, I was then given the opportunity to complete a Social Work degree apprenticeship, fully supported and funded by the Council to become a qualified Social Worker

Since joining the council in 2018 I am now halfway through my ASYE (Assessed and Supported Year in Employment) year as a Child Protection Social Worker in the Support and Protect Team. Some of the work we do can be really challenging, but all of the team are really supportive and there is always someone around to talk things through with and share your worries. Working with families to help them make the changes they want to, in order to make things better for their children is what I love the most about my role. |
