Cumbria Learning Management System (Safeguarding eLearning)
Important Information
The Learning Management System (*My Learning [
]*)
where practitioners access safeguarding eLearning such as Basic Safeguarding Training, Child Exploitation eLearning and Domestic Abuse Training has been recommissioned and as of July 1st, 2024, this will be provided by a new company.
As of the 30thJune 2024 you will no longer be able to access training via the current My Learning site.
It is expected that there will be a short timescale where safeguarding eLearning will not be available.
We are waiting for further confirmation when the new platform will be ready for practitioners to access eLearning and once we have the details we will send you further information via a 5 minute briefing of how you can access the safeguarding eLearning.

The CSCP are delivering an array of training sessions from July onwards.

Safeguarding Level 3
The CSCP have secured further dates for Safeguarding in Practice - Working Together to Safeguard Children - Multi-agency approach to safeguard, protect and promote the welfare of children - Designated Safeguarding Leads - Only (Level 3 Training).
This workshop is part of a programme of learning events that practitioners and professionals, working with children, can access to support their learning at level 3.
A full programme of events will be available for staff to access according to their learning needs.

Child Exploitation Training
The CSCP recommend that anyone working with children should complete *Child Exploitation (CE) Level 1 eLearning* as mandatory training. Click *here [

For those practitioners who work more closely with children and young people and are involved in their safety planning, these practitioners should complete *Child Exploitation (CE) Level 2 training*,

LADO Bitesize Session
Are you aware of your responsibilities in informing the *Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO)* of all allegations against adults who work with children?
This bitesize session is an opportunity to meet the LADO team manager Paul Cooper, who will explain your responsibility and how to inform the LADO as set out in Working Together to Safeguard Children 2023 [

Parental Substance Misuse Training
Recovery Steps Cumbria are providing Parental Substance Misuse Training, this will explore the impact of substance misuse on adults and children.

Responding Well Domestic Abuse Training
Cumberland Council and Westmorland & Furness Council, in partnership with SafeLives, are offering the training opportunity to complete ‘Responding Well’ Domestic Abuse Training.
SafeLives are a UK-wide charity dedicated to ending domestic abuse, for everyone and for good. They are independent, practical and evidence-led, with survivor voice at the heart of our thinking. They work with organisations across the UK to transform the response to domestic abuse.
This face-to-face training is free to all professionals and the sessions will last a full day.

Domestic Abuse Risk Assessment / Combined Homicide Timeline Training
In conjunction with Victim Support and Cumbria Constabulary, the CSCP are delighted to advertise the following training for all professionals potentially working with Victims of Domestic Abuse.
The training aims to equip colleagues to:
* Identify the signs of Domestic Abuse
* To be able to effectively assess Risk with the use of the DASH Risk Assessment and combined Homicide Timeline

Practitioner Forums help people who work with children and young people learn from each other, understand each other's roles and responsibilities and what local provision is available in each part of the county.
The Practitioner Forums are free to attend, you can attend any practitioner forum across the county, why not give one of the forums a try?

Domestic Abuse Conference 15 July 2024

Victim Support Cumbria, Office of Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner (OPFCC), and Cumberland and
Westmorland & Furness Councils proudly present Cumbria’s first Domestic Abuse conference in over a decade.
The conference is aimed at professional who work with families, within the criminal justice system or provide support to victims of domestic abuse or their children.

Keeping Children Safe in Education

The Department for Education (DfE) has published draft Keeping children safe in education statutory guidance for 2024, pending publication of the final version. The guidance is due to come into effect in September 2024.

School Transitions - Message from Cumberland and Westmorland & Furness Early Help Teams
As you approach the end of term, if you have any children who have an open Early Help Assessment, who are transitioning to a new School or College, please remember to invite someone from the new School or College to your final TAF meeting and let parents know they will be attending. During the meeting discuss with the family the change of coordinator if you haven’t already done so.
After the meeting complete the online change of Coordinator form [
]. Share any appropriate paperwork with the new coordinator. If you are to be the new coordinator, complete a new consent form with the family.
If you have been unable to have someone from the new School /College attending the meeting, please let them know you will be completing the change of coordinator form and share paperwork as appropriate.

Kooth end of year assemblies for secondary schools and colleges
Kooth
As we are nearing to the end of school year, Kooth want to offer schools the option of coming onto an end of year virtual assembly.
These sessions will be *15 minutes slots *to remind students that Kooth is not just there for term time, but that they are available across the summer holidays to provide resources in the form of counselling,
moderated peer support and self help tools, available at the point of need.

For information - each session will not be a presentation, but will be a live demonstration of how students sign up and access resources on the platform. This could help prevent mental health issues from deteriorating throughout the holiday period, perhaps helping to ward off that back to school anxiety.

The Lucy Faithfull Foundation has launched a new website designed for 13 to 18-year-olds concerned about sexual thoughts or behaviour.
