The CSCP are delivering an array of training sessions in 2024. Please review below what is currently available.

Safeguarding Level 3 Training
The CSCP have secured further dates for Safeguarding in Practice - Working Together to Safeguard Children - Multi-agency approach to safeguard, protect and promote the welfare of children - Designated Safeguarding Leads - Only (Level 3 Training).
This workshop is part of a programme of learning events that practitioners and professionals, working with children, can access to support their learning at level 3.
A full programme of events will be available for staff to access according to their learning needs.

Parental Substance Misuse Training
Recovery Steps Cumbria are providing Parental Substance Misuse Training, this will explore the impact of substance misuse on adults and children.

Child Exploitation Training
The CSCP recommend that anyone working with children should complete *Child Exploitation (CE) Level 1 eLearning* as mandatory training. Click *here [

LADO bitesize session
Are you aware of your responsibilities in informing the *Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO)* of all allegations against adults who work with children?

Transitional Safeguarding & Exploitation - free webinar
NWG human trafficking
The Human Trafficking Foundation, in collaboration with NWG, is hosting an online forum to explore implementing an effective transitional safeguarding approach when supporting young people who are victims of modern slavery*.*
Transitional Safeguarding is an 'approach to safeguarding adolescents and young adults fluidly across developmental stages which builds on the best available evidence, learns from both children's and adult safeguarding practice and which prepares young people for their adult lives'. This event will delve into what good practice looks like, and provide insights into practical strategies for implementing transitional safeguarding in various settings, including policing, health, social services, and charity organisations. It will feature speakers representing both statutory and non-statutory organisations.

If you need to contact the Cumberland Early Help Team, please note their contact number has changed with immediate effect and is now the same contact number as Cumberland Safeguarding Hub *0333 2401727.*
There are 3 x Early Help Officers based in Cumberland's Safeguarding Hub, who will work on a duty rota to support the Early Help Team, monitoring all early help calls coming into the safeguarding hub.

Child Employment - know the rules
April is Child Employment month.
* Do you know any young people who are working part time whilst still at school?
* Children and young people of school age can work part-time provided they have a valid Work Permit.
A part-time or holiday job can be a good experience for children, providing them with work experience and employability skills while also earning a wage.
However, there are laws and byelaws governing child employment to safeguard children from harm or exploitation, and to ensure that their education does not suffer.

As a practitioner, you may work with children with jobs and it is important to be aware of these regulations.
Children and young people:
* may only work part-time from 13 years old
* *must* have a work permit to be employed
* must have a work permit even if they are unpaid, or work for a relative
* cannot work before 7am or after 7pm
* cannot work more than *two hours on a Sunday*

Childline
Childline Poster
NSPCC Learning has published updated posters to encourage children to contact Childline if they need to talk. Different designs are available for children of primary and secondary school ages in English, as well as versions in Welsh. The poster for Report Remove has also been updated to encourage children and young people to use this tool to get help removing nude images shared online.

Children sharing nude images
The UK Council for Internet Safety (UKCIS) and Department for Science, Innovation and Technology
have updated their non-statutory guidance for schools in England on responding to incidents involving the sharing of nude and semi-nude images. It is aimed at Designated safeguarding leads (DSLs) and senior leaders in educational settings in England. The document includes guidance on: risk assessing incidents; safeguarding and supporting children and young people; handling devices and imagery; recording incidents; and providing education on the sharing of nudes and semi-nudes.
