Collaboration is key for agri-tech

image
South West AgriTech Showcase 2024Thursday 21 Mar 2024: 8:30am - 4:15pm. Westpoint Arena, Clyst Saint Mary, EX5 1DJ

Collaboration is critical between businesses, experts and farmers if agri-tech is to be successfully adopted, which will be a key topic at the South West AgriTech Showcase.

The agricultural sector is currently being asked to help with climate change by adopting re-wilding, organic or regenerative farming techniques while producing high-quality, low-cost food to help with the cost-of-living crisis. And the AgriTech Showcase – which is just over a week away - aims to help farmers navigate these issues, as well as assist with forward planning.

“Agriculture is also under pressure from cheap imports and a confusing export market,” says Russell Frith, inward investment manager at Wiltshire Council, which is partnering with the event. “At the same time, innovations for the agricultural sector are being brought to market so rapidly it is hard to keep up, with some describing it as ‘the fourth agricultural revolution’.”

Dorset innovators - make this park your new home

Six new business units are currently under construction at Dorset's only industrial park with Enterprise Zone status.

Dorset Council recently appointed local firm, Spetisbury Construction, to build the £4.4m units at the Dorset Innovation Park in Winfrith.

The park is developing as an advanced engineering cluster of excellence for the south west, building on its strengths in marine, defence, energy, and cyber-security.

These new units, which are due to be completed in December, will enable more innovators to join the park and grow the county's developing digital innovation ecosystem.

The park is already home to a range of innovative businesses, including Qinetiq, Atlas, and Norco, plus the Ministry of Defence at the Defence Battlelab situated on site.

Any businesses interested in finding out more about the new units can contact Jayne Sharman at Sibbett Gregory - email jayne@sibbettgregory.com or call 01202 661177.
