Event: International Women's Day
Today is International Women's Day (8 March), a day to celebrate women, as well as highlighting challenges that women face.
Doncaster's Reclaim the Night Event
All are welcome for Doncaster’s Reclaim the Night event. Meeting at 6pm tonight at the Mansion House, 45 HIGH ST, DN1 1BN for Doncaster’s Reclaim the Night walk.
We will be walking to Sir Nigel Gresley Square for speeches, from 6:30 to 7pm.
Reclaim the night aims to raise awareness about violence against women and girls, and to advocate for safer communities for everyone.
Women's Health page
We've set up a new webpage for updates and details on regular health and wellbeing groups for women across the city. You can visit it here:
Work to begin to revamp part of Waterdale in Doncaster city centre
Visitors to Doncaster city centre will soon notice work beginning in the Waterdale area of the city centre, funded by the national Levelling up fund.
Starting on 18th March, work will begin to remove the old Central Library and replace it with an open and inviting public space, preparing the area for future external investment opportunities.
The work to regenerate the area is expected to last until the end of September, with the demolition of the library expected to last 14 weeks.
Pedestrian access through the Waterdale area will be restricted during the work, with diversions in place past Ward Brothers but access to businesses within the area will still be available with all businesses remaining open.

Don’t Mess with Doncaster
Following partnership work with South Yorkshire Police and dog handlers from Wagtail UK, a large number of illicit vapes and tobacco products were found by our Trading Standards team, following a series of retail and retail vehicle inspections late last week.
These types of products are regularly sold to underage children and we will continue to work with partner agencies to counter this illegal activity.
This Saturday: Tree Planting Session at Hyde Park
Fancy getting involved in a community tree planting project?
This Saturday (9 March) we will be delivering a tree planting session at Hyde Park as part of the Friends of Hyde Park Cemetery volunteer day.
Thanks to the Tree Council’s Network Rail Community Tree Planting Fund, we have 1000 hedgerow whips ready to plant and need YOUR help.
If you are interested, the session will last from 9:30am – 12pm – and the team will meet near the main entrance to the park just before 9:30am.
#NoMoreWeek
It can be difficult for people to recognise and believe that they are a victim of domestic abuse, if you think that someone you know is being abused, it is important to speak up.
A lot of people worry that it is none of their business, yet you could save a person’s life by speaking up. It’s better to speak up, rather than saying nothing at all.
