Comic Relief Launches New Youth Homelessness Fund 

This is a new funding opportunity for UK based not-for-profit organisations that specialise in providing holistic support to young people aged 16-25 who are at risk of or experiencing homelessness.

Comic Relief is offering flexible, core funding in the way of grants of up to £200,000 over a three-to-five-year period.

The deadline for applications is 3pm on 7th May, 2024.

Screwfix Foundation Supports Causes that Change People’s Lives

The Screwfix Foundation continues to offer grants with money raised through staff fundraising and customer donations.

Local registered charities and not-for-profit organisations can apply for grants of up to £5,000 for projects which improve a physical building (or land attached to it) that is used by people in need.

There are three more opportunities to submit an application for 2024 funding.

Applications are due by 12 noon on 10th May, 10th August and 10th November, 2024.

Screwfix Foundation Grant Details

New Funding Round for Community Energy Resilience Projects

The Northern Powergrid Foundation is offering grants of up to £20,000 for projects that empower local communities across these areas to become energy resilient.

A range of organisations can apply including but not limited to parish councils, village halls, community hubs and community centres, community associations, community trusts, community partnerships, etc.

The funding cannot be used for salaries or contributions to the costs of overheads. Uniformed groups (scouts, guides, sea cadets), sports clubs and associations, hospices or other healthcare providers may not apply.

The deadline for applications is 13th May, 2024.

Northern Powergrid Foundation Details

B&Q Foundation

The B&Q Foundation Grants programme is provided by B&Q Foundation and managed by Neighbourly. 

A wide range of UK registered charities can apply for one-off grants of up to £5,000 for garden projects or up to £10,000 for building or indoor projects.

Charities can use the grants to decorate, renovate or create spaces (indoors and outdoors) with the aim of making people feel at home and having a sense of belonging. Projects could include creating community gardens, redecorating properties, installing new boilers, and creating new buildings or rooms.

There are three more application windows in 2024.

The second application window closes on 17th May, 2024.

B&Q Foundation Grant Details

 

Women’s Health Community Fund

Working in partnership with Holland & Barrett, the charity Wellbeing of Women is offering grants of up to £5,000 to small, grassroots organisations and community groups to deliver health information and support to women, girls and people from underrepresented groups.

Grants of up to £5,000 are available to spend across 12 months. Funds will be distributed in two tranches, 50% at the beginning of the project and 50% upon receipt of a six month report.

The deadline for applications is 19th May, 2024.

Transport Research and Innovation Grants Open for 2024

The Transport Research and Innovation Grant (TRIG) supports future leaders in transport innovation by awarding funding for the development of new technology.

The funding can be used to support proof-of-concept projects that could lead to the development of successful new transport research products, processes, or services.

TRIG is open to SMEs, large businesses, universities, and research and technology organisations based in the UK.

The deadline for applications is 21st May, 2024.

SPAR’s £100,000 Community Cashback Campaign

SPAR shoppers can now apply for a grant of up to £10,000 for a local voluntary or community organisation or charity they feel deserves funding.

All applicants need to do is share the exceptional contribution that a local organisation has made to their local community and what the grant would be used for.

The grants will be given based on the strength of the applicant’s story, the recipient’s levels of dedication to their community and the credibility of what the grant would be spent on and its impact for the local community.

The deadline for applications is 22nd May, 2024.

Youth Endowment Fund’s New £3.5m Grant Round Opens

The Youth Endowment Fund newest grant round focuses on psychological therapies – talking therapies delivered to children and young people who are at risk of becoming involved in crime and violence (known as secondary prevention) or those already involved in the youth justice system (known as tertiary prevention).

Applications can be made by any registered organisation including registered charities, companies, statutory bodies and community interest companies (CICs) supporting support children and young people.  Partnership applications are accepted provided there is a lead organisation and the partners work as one entity.

The deadline for applications is 5pm on 24th May, 2024.

Pink Ribbon Foundation

The Pink Ribbon Foundation is currently accepting applications to its annual grants programme.

Grants of up to £6,000 are available to breast cancer charities for projects and initiatives that make a direct impact on individuals with breast cancer in the UK.

Registered charities, community interest groups and social enterprises with a legal constitution and charitable objectives may apply.

Grant applications must be hard copy and reach the Foundation by the deadline.

The deadline for applications is 31st May, 2024.

Pink Ribbon Foundation Details

Funding for Financial Wellbeing Projects Focused on the Transition to Net Zero

Abrdn Financial Fairness Trust makes around 15 to 20 awards each year to organisations undertaking charitable activities for projects focused on financial wellbeing. This includes voluntary organisations, think tanks, campaigning groups, research bodies and universities. 

There is no minimum or maximum size of grant. Project and ongoing costs are eligible for funding, including staff salaries and overheads. 

There are typically two application deadlines per year.  

The second deadline for outline applications is 1pm on 3rd June, 2024.

Abrdn Financial Fairness Trust Details

Government Launches New £11m Water Restoration Fund

The Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs has created the £11 million Water Restoration Fund with funding from environmental fines and penalties collected from five water companies in England.

The Water Restoration Fund is for local projects that restore and improve inland and estuarine waters and wetlands.

Two grants are available:

  • Development awards. 
  • Delivery awards.

The grants can pay for the costs required to deliver the project including purchase of materials, equipment, feasibility studies, project management costs, and software, data or mapping costs or the commissioning of specialist technical advice.

The deadline for applications is 11.59pm on 7th June, 2024.

The Water Restoration Fund Details

Funding for Charitable Social Housing Projects

The Quaker Housing Trust (QHT) offers advice, support, grants and interest-free loans to grassroots housing organisations to help them provide safe, decent and affordable homes for people of all ages who are ‘often in desperate need’ of housing.

Charitable organisations can apply for:

  • Best Practice Grants for early development of a project to ensure the project reaches the highest possible standards.
  • Main Grants and Loans Programme to fund projects which create homes.

There are five funding rounds per year.

The third deadline for application is 12th June, 2024.  

Quaker Housing Trust Details

Government’s VCSE Energy Efficiency Scheme Opens for Final Round

The £25.5 million VCSE Energy Efficiency Scheme has reopened for applications from voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations.

There are two elements to the scheme:

  • A free Independent Energy Assessment (IEA) - eligible organisations can apply for the cost and delivery of a comprehensive evaluation of their building’s energy usage, efficiency, and potential for energy savings, conducted by a qualified and experienced independent energy assessor
  • Capital grants of between £2,000 and £150,000 can be used to install capital energy efficiency measures, identified in the IEA to reduce the building’s energy costs.

Groundwork has been holding webinars for those who are considering submitting a Capital Grant application.

The next webinar will take place on 22nd May, 2024 (10:30 to 12pm). Registration is required and can be done on the Groundwork website.

The deadline for Independent Energy Assessment applications is 20th June, 2024. The deadline for Capital Grant applications is 14th August, 2024.

VCSE Energy Efficiency Scheme Details

Round 4 of Local Authority Treescapes Fund 

Local authorities in England have until 30th June to apply for funding to increase tree planting and natural regeneration in their local communities.

Local authorities can apply for a minimum grant of £50,000. The fund is focused on planting and natural colonisation of trees in areas outside of woodlands, including parklands, riparian zones, urban areas, beside roads and footpaths as well as trees in hedgerows and field boundaries (not hedgerows themselves).

Local authorities are strongly encouraged to work with other organisations, NGOs, community groups and private individuals to deliver tree planting and natural regenerations.

The deadline for Round 4 applications is 30th June, 2024

Steel Charitable Trust Accepting Applications

Charities, charitable incorporated organisations (CIOs) and municipally funded museums can apply for funding to deliver a variety of projects and activities across the following core categories:

  • Arts and Heritage
  • Education
  • Environment
  • Health
  • Social or Economic Disadvantage

Funding can be used to cover core costs, capital works, and specific projects and the minimum grant size is £10,000.

There are typically four application periods throughout the year.

The next application deadline is 11th July, 2024.

Steel Charitable Trust Details

Adult Social Care Training and Development Fund

Through the Adult Social Care Training and Development Fund, adult social care (ASC) employers in England can claim varying levels of reimbursement for staff training costs.

The fund is comprised of two elements:

  • Care Skills Funding This is funding to provide reimbursement for a range of training and development.
  • Revalidation Funding As part of this fund the government intends to make contributions to the cost of continuing professional development for revalidation for eligible, registered staff.

Funding is available for non-regulated members of the adult social care workforce in England, including deputy and Care Quality Commission registered managers and agency staff.

Claims for reimbursement will be made through the digital online claims service, which will go live in summer 2024.

Adult Social Care Training and Development Fund Details

New Funding for Communities Within 50 Miles of Leeds and Solihull

Business energy provider npower Business Solutions (nBS) has set up the npower Business Solutions Foundation with the aim of giving back to the communities located within a 50-mile radius of its offices in Leeds and Solihull.

A range of not-for-profit organisations including registered charities, CIOs, CICs, cooperatives, community benefit societies, schools, colleges and universities can apply for grants to support projects that have a positive impact on their community.

The funding aims to:

  • Improve the environment.
  • Forge stronger community bonds.
  • Support local educational institutions.
  • Encourage responsible business.
  • Improve places and spaces.

Charis Grants Ltd is managing the application process, selection process and distribution of grants to successful organisations.

Applications are currently being accepted.

npower Business Solutions Details

Funding to Support Capital Works on Christian Buildings

Benefact Trust is offering grants to support capital works to protect and enhance Christian church and charity buildings, ensuring their continued use and viability, and the safeguarding of their heritage.

The Building Improvement Grants Fund will support direct capital costs relating to essential, one-off repairs or other capital works, minor capital works or equipment purchases to meet operational or accessibility requirements, energy efficiency/renewable energy measures etc.

The programme is open to applications from churches, cathedrals, denominational bodies and Christian charities across the UK.

Applications can be submitted at any time. 

Building Improvement Grants Fund Details

Paul Hamlyn Foundation’s Migration Fund

The Foundation is currently accepting applications to the Migration Fund, previously known as the Shared Ground Fund.

The Fund is now focused on supporting not-for-profit organisations in the UK who are working towards the Foundation’s vision of a world in which everyone is free to move and no is forced to move.

Grants of up to £60,000 per year for three to four years or grants up to £50,0000 per year for five years are available to support core costs and specific programme costs.

The first step is to request an enquiry call with the Foundation. This can be done at any time. There are no deadlines.

Paul Hamlyn Foundation’s Migration Fund Details

Core Funding for Local Charities Providing Hospice Care

The Albert Hunt Trust supports local charities throughout the UK who are providing hospice care, support for the homeless and those promoting health and wellbeing.

Currently, the Trust is giving priority to local charities providing hospice care and grants can be used for core funding to include staff costs and ongoing running costs for specific projects

Applications are reviewed on a rolling monthly basis subject to the trustees availability. The deadline for submissions is the last working day of each month.

Applications can be made at any time.

Morrisons Foundation Continues to Make a Difference in Local Communities

The Morrisons Foundation welcomes applications from registered charities. Grants of up to £10,000 are available for specific projects that help to improve people’s lives.

To be eligible, projects must address at least one of the Foundation’s funding objectives of:

  • Tackling poverty and social deprivation.
  • Enhancing community spaces, facilities and services.
  • Improving health and wellbeing.

The funding is to be used for capital spend or direct project delivery and must wholly fund the project.

There are no deadlines. Applications can be submitted at any time. 

Morrisons Foundation Details

Sport England Launches New £160m Movement Fund

The new £160 million, four-year Movement Fund offers grants of between £300 and £15,000, crowdfunding pledges, and resources to improve physical activity opportunities for the people and communities who need it the most.

The funding is intended for local not-for-profit groups and organisations whose projects promote physical activity, including active travel, walking, cycling, dance, fitness and sporting activities.

The funding could cover, for example:

  • Equipment: support purchasing new or improved equipment that’s required for the delivery of the activity.
  • Refurbishing or upgrading facilities: support to improve or create spaces that can provide opportunities to get more people active.
  • Developing new capabilities and leadership skills: providing formal training for staff and volunteers to improve their skills and leadership abilities.  
  • Delivery costs: paying for the people and facilities needed to deliver the project.  
  • Emergency relief: helping with costs during a crisis, like damage from extreme weather, that could not have been avoided or insured.

There are no deadlines for applications.

Movement Fund Details

Funding to Reuse and Recycle Electricals

Material Focus, an independent not-for-profit organisation whose mission is to stop electricals from being hoarded and thrown away, is once again offering grants to communities to reuse and recycle small household electricals.

A total of £750,000 is being made available in 2024 to support two types of projects:

  • Growing existing services – grants of up to £100,000 for projects that grow existing collection methods for small electricals. Innovating new methods – grants of up to £50,000 to come up with new approaches to repair, reuse and/or recycle electricals.  

A range of registered organisations can apply, including charities, local authorities, waste partnerships, private waste contractors, other private companies, and compliance schemes.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

The Albert Hunt Trust supports local charities throughout the UK who are providing hospice care, support for the homeless and those promoting health and wellbeing.

*Morrisons Foundation Continues to Make a Difference in Local Communities*
The Morrisons Foundation welcomes applications from registered charities. Grants of up to £10,000 are available for specific projects that help to improve people’s lives.
To be eligible, projects must address at least one of the Foundation’s funding objectives of:
* Tackling poverty and social deprivation.
* Enhancing community spaces, facilities and services.
* Improving health and wellbeing.
The funding is to be used for capital spend or direct project delivery and must wholly fund the project.

*Sport England Launches New £160m Movement Fund*
The new £160 million, four-year Movement Fund offers grants of between £300 and £15,000, crowdfunding pledges, and resources to improve physical activity opportunities for the people and communities who need it the most.
The funding is intended for local not-for-profit groups and organisations whose projects promote physical activity, including active travel, walking, cycling, dance, fitness and sporting activities.
The funding could cover, for example:
* Equipment: support purchasing new or improved equipment that’s required for the delivery of the activity.
* Refurbishing or upgrading facilities: support to improve or create spaces that can provide opportunities to get more people active.
* Developing new capabilities and leadership skills: providing formal training for staff and volunteers to improve their skills and leadership abilities.
* Delivery costs: paying for the people and facilities needed to deliver the project.
* Emergency relief: helping with costs during a crisis, like damage from extreme weather, that could not have been avoided or insured.

*Funding to Reuse and Recycle Electricals*
Material Focus, an independent not-for-profit organisation whose mission is to stop electricals from being hoarded and thrown away, is once again offering grants to communities to reuse and recycle small household electricals.
A total of £750,000 is being made available in 2024 to support two types of projects:
* *Growing existing services* – grants of up to £100,000 for projects that grow existing collection methods for small electricals. *Innovating new methods* – grants of up to £50,000 to come up with new approaches to repair, reuse and/or recycle electricals.
A range of registered organisations can apply, including charities, local authorities, waste partnerships, private waste contractors, other private companies, and compliance schemes.
