[Garden waste collection - sign up now for 2024/25]

Derbyshire Dales residents can now sign up to our [garden waste scheme] for 2024/25.
We've extended the competition deadline to 10 March for residents to be entered into a draw to have the chance of getting their subscription fee for the year 2024/25 refunded. All subscribers who beat that deadline go into a prize draw, with 20 lucky residents being refunded 1 x £56 subscription fee. [Read more>>]

The Annual Budget Meeting will be broadcast live on our [YouTube channel] from 6pm on Thursday 29 February.
Dales residents and businesses are being invited to have your say on our 2024/25 spending proposals and council tax before this meeting. Councillors will be considering the proposed budget and council tax increase of 2.99%, which equates to an extra 13p per week for a Band D property. [Read more>>]
[Work to start shoring up Matlock retaining wall]

Contractors have confirmed that work will start next week to shore up an unstable retaining wall of St Giles cemetery in Matlock.
The instability has meant that Stoney Way - which links Knowleston Place and Church Street - has been closed off since last month. It will be reopened when a safe pedestrian access can be set up following next week's temporary work. [Read more>>]
[Bakewell and Norbury by-elections - results service]

By-elections took place here in the Derbyshire Dales on Thursday 22 February in the District Council's Bakewell and Norbury wards.
Six candidates contested the vacant seat in Bakewell and four in Norbury.
**Sue Bull**, Chair of the Council in the last administration, is back after holding the Norbury seat for the Conservatives.
**Bob Butcher** took the Bakewell seat for Labour from the Conservatives, beating the Conservative candidate into second place by 15 votes. [Read more>>]
