💻 Computing in Business (CiB) 2024
📅 17 May 2024 ⌚ 10:30 - 14:30 📍 Fusion Building, Bournemouth University

This year our first year students from all our undergraduate Computing & Informatics degrees will take part in Computing in Business, which will see them assessed on a number of different unit topics as part of this integrated assessment.

In addition, between 13:30 and 14:30 our faculty placements team will be hosting an information session for employers to talk about setting up placements and the mutual benefits they bring to employers and students. Lunch will be provided during the placement talk. So if you are a business that is new to placements, our team would love to speak to you and share their advice and guidance.

🏆 Business Awards - entry deadline extended
Following a record number of entries and overwhelming entry requests, the entry deadline for the prestigious 2024 Central South Business Awards has been extended.

The new deadline is now set for midnight on Wednesday 1 May and entry is free.
 
The annual awards, in association with Business South, is a fantastic platform for local businesses to make connections, gain recognition and celebrate their achievements.

📢 Poole BID's Charity of the Year - Julia's House
Announcing Julia's House children’s hospice as the new charity of the year (COTY) is a wonderful initiative executed by Poole BID (Business Improvement District).

Julia's House is a local charity that provides vital support to children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions, offering respite care, emergency support, and end-of-life care in Dorset and Wiltshire. Their dedication to improving the lives of the most vulnerable children and their families in our community is truly inspiring.

Jacqui Rock, Poole BID Lead commented: “We are committed to supporting the local community and making a positive impact. Our Board of Directors felt that partnering with Julia's House allows us to contribute to their important work and help make a difference in the lives of children and families facing incredibly tough challenges."

The Economic Development (ED) team at BCP Council visited FOUNDRY in Poole for an exclusive preview and tour of the brand new co-working space that will soon be welcoming startup and established businesses, freelancers and networkers.
Adam Walker, founder, said: "FOUNDRY will be offering the Poole business community a platform to meet clients, contacts and build connections. Great to show the BCP ED team around and give them a sneak peak of our private offices, dedicated desks, meeting rooms and boutique members work lounge".

📢 Poole Harbour Commissioners (PHC) new CEO
Poole Harbour Commissioners (PHC) are pleased to announce that Captain Brian Murphy will be taking over as CEO of PHC from Jim Stewart on 1^st July 2023. Brian has been with the organisation since 2004. He was appointed as Harbour Master in 2008 and was given the extra responsibility of Marine & Port Director in 2018.
